Chris Gill to TPWD Executive Director on Elk Eradications

Carter Smith was considering my December letter when a mutual friend arranged for us to have lunch. I wrote Carter afterwards and asked him to personally read the literature concerning whether elk are natives, because I had learned from my range science exchanges that the scientists were taking representations of others at face value, never reading the papers they cited, let alone the papers on which the papers cited relied.

Anybody with average intelligence can read these, and should: do so and you will be shocked by the sloppy science that is used to make far-reaching decisions like removing elk across 10 million acres of far-West Texas.
